WebAbacus

WebAbacus is web analytics software designed to give your marketing team the power, control and flexibility it needs to succeed.

Quick Summary

We give you all the functionality and reporting you'd expect from an enterprise level analytics software, plus the ability to create bespoke reports, analyse specific activity and compare activity across different channels.

We provide a variety of implementation options designed to meet the requirements of organisations of any size:

  • Hosted Software as a Service (Saas) model
  • Licensed model (Local install) - Purchased
  • Licensed model (Local install) - Rented

Our hosted option requires the use of the WebAbacus tag code on your site, so that the data can be collected and processed.

Our licensed options can use any form of data collection that you require. We have many clients using raw web logs, tag based collection, hybrid (raw logs and tag logs combined), as well as logs derived from network / packet sniffers.

One more thing... No matter which model you choose, you can switch later without losing your reports or your historical data! Both our hosted ASP and licensed solutions use the same software, meaning that WebAbacus is not just software but a partner that will grow with you.

A bit more...

WebAbacus is a web-based data mining product, providing on-line analytical processing (OLAP).

The product comprises of three key elements:

  • data processing engine
  • data warehouse / store
  • reporting suite

This allows the product to have extreme flexibility, as the reports query the data stores dynamically and in real-time. In combination with this real-time reporting, WebAbacus features a sophisticated set of transforms which allow exisiting data to be manipulated, grouped, or integrated with external data sources.

WebAbacus comes with over 50 standard reports covering all the basics, such as:

  • Top-line metrics & Dashboards: These reports show the top-line metrics for your web site, such as Page Impressions, Visits & Unique Visitors. They can also be expanded to include custom metrics specific for your site, such as commercial performance.
  • Trending: These reports show the variation of top-line metrics over: hours, days, weeks, and years. Custom metrics can also be added, to show how these have varied in response to external events such as marketing campaigns.
  • Content Usage: These reports show how content is being absorbed on your site. Simple ranked reports show how often each piece of content has been accessed, the view duration, and associated parameters. This allows for swift popularity based content optimisation.
  • Visitor Information: Reports covering every aspect of your sites' visitors, including: IP address and/or resolved hostname, time zone, geographical location, client environment (i.e. platform & browser), and event level details of all of their visits.
  • Navigation: Complete suite of reports covering on-site navigation: from their first page with visit entry reports, through their visit with path analysis and traffic visualisation reports, to their final pages and exiting URLs..
  • Referrals & SEO analysis: Reports covering the search engine and phrases that were used to arrive at your site. Along with details of all identified external referring sites down to the specific referring page.

Flexibility is a key strength of WebAbacus, and when combined with our easy to use Single-Click(TM) segmentation interface, data mining has never been easier!

Below are a few short video clips (with audio commentary) showing some of these features in action:

Still a little bit more ...

In addition to the above, new reports can easily be created - often taking only minutes - which can then query data from the WebAbacus data stores. The newly created report will be functional immediately, and can even reference historical data. WebAbacus is quite rare in its ability to perform post-hoc analysis!

Below are a few common examples of bespoke reports, but please remember that if the data can be logged, WebAbacus can report on it!

3D Traffic Visualisation

This report shows the traffic flows within your web site.

The report is highly visual and interactive, showing traffic flows in 3D.

The report includes visualisations of the structural traffic flows, paths to & from site areas, and traffic flows in & out site sections.

The report is higly customisable, and is constructed as follows:

  • Node size represents the number of pages viewed in the site area.
  • Node slices represent the nature of the visit, such as marketing source driving traffic to the site area.
  • Line thickness represents the volume of traffic between the nodes.
  • Colour distribution along the lines, represents the predominant direction of the traffic flow.

The report can also be interacted with, allowing the user to drag, zoom, and pan - see this in action in the video above.

Multi-channel Marketing Analysis

Compare the performance of your marketing channels side-by-side. Our marketing channel reports are extremely flexible, and can be tailored to your exact needs.

Typically, each channel is broken down into four levels:

  • Source, e.g. Natural/Paid Search, email, etc.
  • Publisher, e.g. Google, Yahoo!, etc.
  • Campaign, e.g. Easter breaks, etc.
  • Creative, e.g. email link 2, banner1_230x20, etc.

Unlike cookie based analysis, where typically only the last marketing can be identified, WebAbacus includes historical profiling to identify every piece of marketing that a visitor has viewed over a defined time period. This allows WebAbacus to not only report on direct conversion, but also deferred conversion (showing the duration between response and action), and channel contribution (showing when and what channels were involved in each conversion).

Screen shot of the WebAbacus Visit Scoring

Visit Scoring

Here, a report has been created to show traffic broken down based on the score that the visit achieved. This technique gives a measure of visit engagement, by assigning relative scores to specific actions within the visit, such as internal search, or viewing a product.

For example, scores could be allocated as follows:

  • Home Page = 5 points
  • Search Results = 10 points
  • Registration confirmation = 20 points
  • All other pages = zero points

These scores are then summed, to give an overall score for the visit. Using the above example, a visit that included all of these actions would therefore score 35 points, whereas a visit that only included the home page would score only 5 points. These final visit scores can then be banded or trended.

Visitor Profiling

This is one of the most common ways of segmenting a customer base. It combines the following measures:

  • Recency: The elapsed time since the last purchase made by a customer
  • Frequency: The average time between purchases for a customer
  • Monetary value: The total value of purchases made by a customer
  • Latency: The time between two events, such as first visit and purchase.

Each visitor is then scored based on the above criteria.

On-line survey integration

The use of online surveys allows your business to ask questions of your web site visitors.

Integrating these responses with your web analytics allows you to have both qualitative and quantitative data.

Using the power of WebAbacus, you can truly integrate your survey data, allowing you to segment your web analytics data using your survey responses.

Include demographic questions within your survey, and the results can be combined with WebAbacus’ Visitor profiling feature to provide long term demographic segmentation.
